Safety Notice

The jewellers Academy withdraws 7 machines by a well known brand from its workshops due to safety concerns. The brand who is not affiliated to the Academy has refused to answer the concerns of two of the UK’s largest manufacturers in their field after two independent reports were issued on a new troublesome model.

Derek Boyd, founder of The jewellers Academy said “ These concerns must be answered for the safety of all from within the jewellery sector. The brand recently featured on a BBC 1 jewellery program and are found in the majority of jewellers workshops throughout the UK so I’m in the belief for everyones safety this issue must be followed up and the company be forced to answer….the UK jewellery sector will not be ignored!” We will name this company in the future after legal enquiries on our standing.

2020 Enrolment is now closed. We hope to see you in 2021!

We regret to inform you that due to a rise in COVID cases around the UK we have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel all scheduled classes at The Jewellers Academy Training Center for 2020. The decision came with the health and safety of students, instructors, and staff in mind. We know how important education is to help one upskill thus providing better career prospects so we will be looking into increasing free content to provide you the best information possible until classes can resume. We will also seek out new opportunities to connect with you and provide greater value to your work at your bench. A difficult point in making our decision was knowing you may have already made arrangements with your employers or staff so you could attend your designated course, and we apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause. Please note that when we re-launch early 2021 the 66 registered names we have on our books will receive a 30 % discount on tuition fees for all long and short courses for the first six months.

We will be launching our Tools and Equipment distribution business in the coming months , with the latest Laser welding/cutting , micro-welders, Engraving , Jewellery tools , gemmology equipment etc from the leading global brands all under one roof in an active workshop so one may experience each piece of equipment ‘hands on’ . Appointments only, Finance for workshop upgrades will be made available. Lastly, we wish you all the best as we all navigate these unprecedented times and remain ready to help you in any way that we can. We value our relationship with each Trainee and client and hope that once this is all over you will consider signing up again to The Jewellers Academy Training Center. Please contact us with any questions or concerns. Stay healthy and safe. Kindest Regards
Derek Boyd

After negotiations The Academy is fully endorsed by Orotig. Not only will an array of the latest laser machines be available for trainees to learn on but The Academy will become sole distributor for the UK and Ireland.

The Bridlington based Academy will become a service centre encompassing a quality and first class support to our service users as well as the capabilities of creating employment in the local area. We undoubtedly retain the best names in the industry and in order to maintain this credibility we have decided to now close the door to other brands signing up as we have been inundated with interest.
