TODAY MARKS THE BEGINNING OF A NEW ERA IN JEWELLERY TRAINING!
23rd October 2026 — The Jewellers Academy Yorkshire officially begins its online course launch period.
After several years of research, development, testing and countless hours behind the scenes, today marks a major milestone for our team as we begin introducing an entirely new concept in professional jewellery training.
In partnership with Pepetools USA, we are bringing the working jewellery classroom directly to you — wherever you are in the world. Over the next 12 weeks, we will introduce a series of FREE live-streamed taster sessions, beginning with small groups and gradually increasing participation month by month. This carefully planned launch period will allow us to gather genuine feedback, refine camera angles, improve close-up footage, perfect sound and interaction, and ensure the experience is everything we believe it can become.
UP TO 25 CAMERAS. ONE WORKING CLASSROOM. AN ENTIRELY NEW TRAINING EXPERIENCE.
Imagine being able to observe a real commercial jewellery workshop, follow the progress of trainees at their benches, watch professional repairs being carried out in extraordinary detail, ask questions and experience the atmosphere of a working classroom — without leaving your home or workplace. That is the immersive experience we have set out to create.
Our multi-award-winning Academy continues to receive national industry recognition for its innovative approach to preserving traditional jewellery skills while embracing modern technology and processes.
And importantly, this is commercial jewellery training — not simply arts and crafts. Our aim is to teach the practical skills required by working goldsmiths, silversmiths, jewellery repairers and restorers. Whether you are starting from scratch, developing an existing skill or are an established trade professional looking to expand your capabilities, there will be opportunities to learn, observe and develop.
WHAT COMES NEXT?
From January 2027, our programme of 40-week professional training courses begins:
Classes of 2027
• Level 4 —Freshers week Jan 15th, term time 22nd January 2027
• Level 3 — February 2027 tbc
• Various additional skill levels and specialist subjects to follow.
• Multiple four-hour live-streamed training sessions planned throughout the week.
• Live viewing and recorded learning options, depending on course package.
The response to our announcement has already been overwhelming, with applications and enquiries arriving from those eager to experience this new approach to training.
Our founder, Derek Boyd, explains:
"Our ambition has always been to make genuine commercial jewellery training more accessible and affordable. We want someone with no previous experience to have the opportunity to learn professional repair skills from scratch, then progress year by year towards becoming a highly competent working goldsmith.
Equally, we want established trade professionals to have access to specialist training without having to close their businesses, leave employment or travel hundreds of miles.
Whether you're 16 or 70, whether you want to participate or simply watch a trainee develop their skills over time, we want to open the doors of our Yorkshire workshops to everyone with a genuine interest in this remarkable trade."
AND OUR EXISTING TRAINING?
Our highly successful, hands-on short courses at our Yorkshire training facility continue exactly as normal. This is not a replacement for practical workshop training. It is a major expansion of everything we have spent years developing, offering a completely new way to access our knowledge, instructors and commercial training methods.
A NEW WAY TO LEARN. A NEW WAY TO DEVELOP. A NEW GENERATION OF JEWELLERY TRAINING.
We thank our entire team, our industry supporters and our American partners at Pepetools USA for helping bring this ambitious project to life.
Today is not the finished product. Today is the beginning of something we intend to make extraordinary.
THE JEWELLERS ACADEMY YORKSHIRE Commercial training. Traditional skills. Modern technology. Real career opportunities.
