The Jewellers Academy Is NAJ Awards Service Supplier Of The Year Winner 2024
What an amazing few years we have had at the Jewellers Academy , Yorkshire . The Academy trains applicants of all ages in specialist jewellery sector trades like gold/silversmithing, Laser welding/ Cutting, horology , Gemstone setting, engraving etc learning the techniques of manufacture, Repair & Restoration. With its origins stretching back over 20 years the centre expanded in 2013 and again in 2019 due to the demand for the services offered.
With long and short courses available, all are taught on a part time basis allowing the trainees to retain their current employment while either upskilling or learning something new. After the horrible Covid years the Academy re-launched and sold out all available placements within several hours , the larger Branded tools & equipment companies became involved and the suddenly the Centre started with a bang .
In the first year the Academy won one of the biggest National awards in the Industry - Retail Jewellers Awards in the category of 'Best Service provider' for training courses delivered to the Jewellery Sector which, to win was just an unbelievable beginning for the expanding new Academy. This award opened a lot of doors for our small business, all of a sudden business started to listen and believe in our new concept in training which is based on swiss teachings.
This week provided even more of a surprise, we attended the NAJ National Awards as we were shortlisted to the top 5 businesses in UK & Ireland. Pitted against some of the most established large businesses we were generally very pleased & proud to get this far and is the reason we attended. Our category was announced 'and the winners are ..........Jewellers Academy!!' apart from nearly falling of our seats it will be an evening that will live long in our memory! There was style, diamonds, old friends, great food, a few mirror men, a saxophonist, some lovely people and if I haven't mentioned it free largar, Champagne & wine !!!!!!!! .......an amazing evening and a credit to the NAJ.
To win one National Award in any year is an achievement but to win the two biggest and most prestigious National Awards in the Industry in 12 months is a feat that we probably will never repeat ! but ..... watch this space !
Our Founder Commented 'We are proud beyond belief , honoured, excited, Lucky all wrapped up in one bunch of emotions, it truly is unbelievable. I feel very lucky to have a job in my life I absolutely love dearly which is rewarding in itself and now with also moving into instructing/training , it's an opportunity to teach the next generation of all ages to either upskill or perhaps newbies to the trade makes all the sacrifices & long hours well worth while. Remembering ' a person who loves their job never works a day in their life ' this trade is a fantastic career for the right persons and although I was taught by the best and enjoy passing those skills on ......we all continue to learn every day of our lives and must continue to be open to training '
The Academy would like to thank Adam Cook, Ben & Marie of the NAJ for their support to include the ceremony and beautiful meal, all the lovely messages of good wishes we have received from friends and family , the team here at the Academy and finally all the applicants & businesses who believed in us and continue to come back ......we must be doing something right.
